@ Tvrdi: Da (yes) - from what I understood/read.

Russian version is getting it removed with the next patch, and the West has to wait until a proper solution is done to the game engine. Or at least this is how I understood it.

I think that in the russian version it is already possible to disable the filter by editing some file like config.ini (this was in the sukhoi forum earlier today). Also Nike-It confimed in another post here that it is possible to disable it in russian version already.

He did not know if it will ever be able to disable it in the western version. So it might be that Western version will just be optimized to work with the filter (offcourse we will lose on something, less graphics etc..)

Another important question is will the russian version work outside russia, as it also has english language, probably no because Steam is region based.

not only that we with "western" version will hav FPS drop but will have a different game without proper muzzle flashes, tracers etc...thats not only lame but unfair btw......well that sucks bigtime guys IMHO

This is the beginning of the fight, and we really don't have all the facts yet. I'm glad that the world has changed and efforts are made to allow those with disabilities to have the choices that others have. Whether it's really possible for epileptics to safely run this game I don't know (even with the changes).

Right now this does seem like a complete mess that is ruining the game, and ensuring there is a way of disabling doesn't seem beyond possibility, either with a simple switch and warning, or by messing with ini files.

If you have good hardware and fast computer, I think the game will work fine and the game wont be "ruined". You just get 80% of what you could have gotten from the experience of playing CoD. It doesn't still mean the game is completely ruined.

 Will it effect playing online if one person has the filter and poorer performance and someone else doesn't?

I would say this old video is without the filter. It is probably the best in cockpit video we've ever seen even if it is 2 years old.

Seconded.

I will comment something here: the propeller looks like an invisible circle, just as it does in RL. It is hard to determine (from YT videos) how much the Filter affected that part because people post "an invisible prop" as a negative thing. There surely are negative effects on the propeller because of this Filter, but this ain't one of them.

The filter can be turned off in Russia in the config.ini file. Probably this option won't be available on the int'l version coming out end of next week (?). Once the visuals have been dealt with the filter will be removed and the fps issue caused by it will end, how much the 'fixes' will neuter the visual appeal of the game remains to be seen. It's not clear if we will then have two different versions, the international version that's been visually 'dealt with' and the Russian version which will not have 'epilepsy safe' graphics.

Antiepyleptic filter eats about 10 fps on my system (i7 920, GTX470), however it causes awful jittery and stutters (looking around does not look smooth even at 50 FPS). Disabling the filter makes looking around smoother, but there is still huge problem with FPS and occasional freezes over the land.

same spec here.....the thing that bothers me is - nobody from dev team announced this before release...and as this anti epileptic filter makes the game (visually) different from russian version...so I will cancel my preorder....guy at getgames was wery helpfull and pro but we will see If I would get canceling order and refund.....I sucked once with ROF and their "optimisations"....that was enough...

sucks.....

In fact only five in a hundred people WITH epilepsy have this type of epilepsy.

Source: http://www.epilepsy.org.uk/info/photosensitive-epilepsy

That is all I have to say on it. I'm still going to buy the game anyway.
