Found these two mails mails on a old HDD kinda fun to read.

Welcome to the basic flight training of the 6th Kokutai.

My name is Oiink, and im your combat flight instructor. Im not here to become friends with you, im here to make sure that you have a clear understanding on what the basics of combat in the air is.

At the end of this course you have to pass different tests before you are alowed into active combat missions for the IJN/IJA.

First i will se if you have a basic understanding on how to fly a plane in the IL2 series. If not i will help you to master the basics.
Second i will help you understand basic combat manouvers and help you with the basics of shooting and hitting a target.
Third i will help you to take of and land on a carrier. To make sure you learn it the hard way i have ordered my weatherman to have some nice storms in the area, just for you.

1. You will get a A6M2 for the initial tests.
2. You get a KI-43 for dual training
3. You choose what plane you want to complete the tests in
4. Carrier qualifications are done in the A6M2

You need to be able to take of and then folow the guidelines given from the BFT instructor. Then you make 5 stop and goes. Land come to an halt turn around take of again.

Then you take of and engage the planes ordered by the BFT Instructor and make a complete landing (land, taxi engine off)

You also have to make a landing with engine off

You have to make a belly landing without blowing up

Then you fly as wingman for the BFT Instructor in 4 missions where you get the real feel of combat.

When you have completet the BFT you will be assigned as wingman for a experienced pilot.

Remember. We do have a limit on planes. We cant loose all planes in one mission. You will have to earn the right to fly the more exotic planes.
In general there are enough planes, but there are one type that we dont have great numbers of, the J2M. This plane have a 3 stage supercharger, is a pure energy fighter and requires some experience to master. For the duration of the campaign we have 32 planes, with no posibility for more comming.

The KI-84 is not so restrictet, but cant fight as high as the J2M. A6M series are medium to low altitude fighters, the same with the KI-61
KI-100 and N1K Series are medium altitude fighters.
I/6th Are J2M wing (cant get the bloody IJA pilots to fly it "freaking" 84 lovers)

II/6th Are A6M5 wing
III/6th are N1K wing
IJA fly 43`s 61`s 100`s and 84`s

To make sure you understand the situation as it is, in the campaign right now.
A6M`s are death traps
KI-43`s are death traps
KI-61 are death traps

The IJN/IJA HQ will stil send you into combat in them because of the plane restrictions. You will have to fly one way missions, just to save planes of a better model. All Japanese pilots have to do this, new as old. These missions will alow you to use your plane as a last resort weapon. (break the cross)

The good part. The last 6 months have brought us defeat and glory. By now we have the invasion fleet running away from the philipines and nu ginea. IJN have complete control of the southern waters and 3rd carrier group are working on a blocade of Midway. (II/6th)

1st carrier group and 2nd carrier group are resuplying for the invasion of Midway. We have 3 chase groups that are used to flush out Allied navy units. I have no details, but we have location on some capital ships and plans are being createt to sink these ships.

If the plans from HQ works we will attack pearl harbour again by mid 1945(in around 2 months time). That is kinda cool since i was apart of the original attack 6 months ago.

Wingleader I/6th 2nd wing J2M

Well hope you understood some of this mail, looking forward to se you at Koyoshi BFT Airfield

6th Kokutai I/6th

Your service record for the IJN doing the campaign have made HQ decide that you are a Pilot that we could use in I/6th. You have a Kill loss ratio that is werry impressive since you have been flying the A6M5. I have to admit that the two P-38 kills realy got my attention when looking through your records.

Here at I/6th we fly the J2M series, known by the allies as Jack. We as its pilots simply call it Raiden. You are scheduled for operational training so we can get you into the cocpit of one as soon as posible. I do recomend that you practice in it ALOT ofline.

YESNO!
YES: You use a pure energy style of fighting.
NO: you dont use tight combat manouvers.
YES: You do fight above 4500m
NO: You dont engage planes lower than 4500m
YES: You can dive werry fast
NO: You dont ever exeed the speed 850KPH
YES: 4500m plus
NO: any combat below 4500m

You need to remember that you have a 3 stage supercharger, you will need to learn how to use that. You need to remember that fuel mixture is vital for the J2M or you end up with the "russian" smoke

You need to remember that prob picth in some cases are critical (save fuel)

You need to remember that you have werry limitet fuel. You think the German had problems with fuel in the 109E4 then the J2M will give you a new perspective in flying on fumes.

The J2M is in my opinion the best plane we have. We dont have to wait and get bounced, it is us bouncing right up there with the 51`s. Our shortcomming is and will always be FUEL!!!

You will need to make re fuel landings on a normal basis. You have firepower to kill or take any plane out of action in one pass. That is what we do here, hit and climp.

As a A6m Pilot you are used to loads of fuel, loads of ammo and evasion. Here you dont have the posibility to do that, but you have 3 things that outweighs that.

Climp
Dive
Guns

When practicing offline, you set it up like this

two P-38`s ace level
altitude anything above 4500m
Use map with ground and forrests. Learn how to track the enemy over land and below you. Avoid head on`s. Sky good or hazy, time something around 0800-0900
Always climp when turning, your limit upwards are werry good, for you higher is better.
Your "ground" limit is 4500M no fighting below that (J2M turns into a brick with a huge thing in the nose)

Well, thats all from me in this mail.

Again i am impressed by your record in the A6M

PS. Dont listen the the darn IJA 84 lovers. They give you a hard time, just ask them about the mock dogfights, that will close there big mouths :)
