iL2 Forgotten Battles :(

I've gotten excited about iL2 after a decade of no playing any of it. So I install Forgotten Battles which is only iL2 game I have. Unfortunately, I loaded the path update from version 1.0 (original) to 1.22 but even when trying to unzip it the game does not update. I mean it said it unzipped but apparently the game is not acquiring it. I run Windows 7 premium and not sure is that is the problem. Anyone have any instructions on how to go about updating Forgotten Battles after downloading the patch in Windows 7 ?

I have no update to the game as of right now because of this issue :(

I mean in which folder should I click the .exe patch file ? And then what?

If you installed patch 1.0 and 1.22 it sounds like you installed the patches for the original IL2 into FB. Forget Forgotten Battles.

Get this: IL2 1946 (http://www.amazon.com/IL-2-Sturmovik-1946-PC/dp/B000N4JENW).

Start with that. Then go here (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Knowledge_Base&file=print&kid=584&page=1) to get patching directions. If you are installing it on W7 create a folder on your C drive called Games or something .. but do not install it into any of the program folders. It will not work right if you do.

For about $10 you can get a better flight model, more maps, planes, aircraft carriers and jets and cool parts that have been worked on and still are.

What's your time worth? How much time will you spend playing?

But be sure to get clear and okay on setting it up for your OS and stick.
And have or get a USB flash drive to back up your installed&patched copy to.

I have 1946, which is 4.07, I am considering buying the ultimate pack if it's really 4.11, and if it's not 4.11 I would be very interested to know that.

It lists 1946 but how many ways I don't trust marketer's repackaged "deals"...

Yes... and once you patch it back it up.

Yessiree .. that s why I told him that he probably weas trying to put the original IL2 patches on FB .. and that of course will not work..

If you have 46 .. why buy anything else? Patch it to 4.09.. save a copy.. then patch it up to 4.12.2 save a copy.. then add whatever mod pack you want HSFX 7.xx or SAS MODACT 5.3.
