As a former (old days) radio instrument instructor pilot I am trying to get the wquiptment and a/c to work correctly but need some info:
1) Which USN a/c have equiptment to use:
a. NDB with double needle
b. what typ of radio/radio bcn can they use
of the nav aids listed; Radio beacon,Meacon,YG,BBC(and other AM bc stations
C. I need a example of music/voice entry to a B/C station like BBC
I have the normal "pie" system used on carriers working fine, but do any carriers have a NDB for "homing?
Do the maps in 4.10 have radio bcns on them?
Flew the B25J but the ADF didn't work I had to slew the bcn, however I did see the "radio Compass" swing. Looks as if it is a "relative" heading thing.
Any help? e address "starron1@bellsouth.net"
Too bad no "radio range" the old "a","n" thing. Flew a lot of that back in the '60!

The B25J RDF should work. It shows you the direction the beacon is in. Try the B25J blind landing mission as that starts with you using the RDF to navigate to an NDB before switching to the ILS beacon. The 'Double Needle' is just the repeater compass and its only use is to allow you to set a bearing and then manually keep your compass needle between the lines.
I have not tried a YE beacon on a carrier yet but I know the Corsair can pick up YG beacons so it will also pick up YE beacons. I believe that applies to all Allied carrier fighters but not land based versions.
