1/blue color for blue team, red color for red team, upper part of monitor

2/neutral color, lower part of monitor

Oleg has already made his mind for the colored upper screen, but what would be yours ?

Upper part clearly, otherwise block the view on gauges.

My thoughts as well. Upper part and limit to 4-5 lines max (user adjustable).

Upper here as well -- don't want anything to block the instruments.

With text down, instruments aren't blocked if you snap your view lower to check the gauges, text is then over the pedals or stick, and you can still read the gauges in the upper part.

If text is up, you can still snap your view higher to clear the reticle, but it's not really comfy when you try to adjust your deflection ?

How about being able to display messages in a window on a second monitor?

I guess I will adapt to however it comes!

Cheers!

+1
but for my mind, they are too much text rows, 2 text rows up to the screen is
good enough
the best was to be editable in conf.ini

It would be also great to have a key to turn these subtitles on/off, without the need to close the game and edit conf.ini

When i fly english, US, italian or french i don't need'em, while i haven't a clue of russian, german or japanese, and i' d like not to close the game when hopping from one plane to another.

Upper part of the screen. But I prefer flying without the texts cluttering my screen, the AI screams it's gibberish in the radio anyway ;) :D Even turned off AI voices, got kind of tired hearing them screaming their death seconds after the plane had already exploded :D

Leave it in upper part. More important is a option to scale the letter's size. IMHO in Il-2 the texts of and stats always were way too big.

i would be a good idea that Oleg gives to end user the chance to change the options of subtitles

As long as they can be de-activated there's no problem.

I'd never prefer visible instruments over visible horizon. I'm flying in the sky and not in the gear. Thus I'd think low is better.
However, it'd be best if it was customizable indeed. I don't think there is one setting that serves everyone best.
For example the usage of color. And on top of everything RED. There are a lot of colorblind people out there and most of them are colorblind for red.

So it'd be great if we could set a font size and color on our own. Eventually also the max number of messages and the fade out time. It's done this way in many games already and seems to work best with most people.

I hope in SoW...

1. HUD-Log, chatter, symbols etc. are switchable (on/off) within the game, not only via conf.ini.

2. There is no visible "connection sign" (or switchable maybe) as we have it in IL-2 today

3. The host of an online game can chose if HUD-settings are preset (the ones of the host) or adjustable by the players.

That would be great, oleg.

I would like to be able to choose a color such as yellow...being red/green color blind is a problem at times with IL-2.

I'd love to fly IFR missions so blocked gauges is not my choice.

Should have use options for color, location, even size, font, and number of lines displayed.

The text is very obstructive to me.

... maybe text them to my cell phone ;)

More seriously:

1. semi opaque :D ... about 40% or 60% transparency would be awesome.
2. the option to selectively choose which messages to turn off would be very useful.

Can you say more on this ?

You don't need to make Poll. We will make as we think is better for the series, but not for the single title.

The size of almost everything (mesages) is possible to adjust not in INI file, but directy in the sim by mouse.

Ha! That gave me an idea! Wouldn't it be great if the AI's voice would be cut short if they'd happen to die(or have their radio damaged) mid-sentence? And then the other AIs would go "polish" ;)

This is great, thanks a lot for this info Oleg !

Any chance we can also position the subtitles window by mouse, just like the minimap in IL2 ?

This way the minority that prefers text to be downscreen would be as satisfied as the majority who wants it upscreen.

May you also noticed in this thread by someone who is red color blind, would be nice to be able to chose color for subtitles.

A key for "no text on screen" would be nice also, either for screenshots, or for immersion. Player would then only turn text on when some info is needed, as "i don't care what AIs say to each other, but when i ask something to air control i need the answer with subtitles", or "i don't care for throttle % but since there is no indication in the cockpit to know function X is active (i hope there will be almost no function without moving levers/buttons in cockpit in SOW), i need some text to know it is active after i press the keyboard".

Thanks for reading :)
