Aspect Ratio

How can I change aspect ratio and make it stay that way?

I have 22" monitor with 1680x1050 native resolution, however I want to play the game on a 4:3 resolution because the interface is distorted in 16:10. The monitor can be set to 4:3 mode.

I've tried changing config.cfg aspect ratio, but it always defaults to 16:10. I've even set the file to read only so that the aspect ratio doesn't change when I run the game. No matter what I do, in-game aspect ratio is 16:10 and the interface is distorted.

Any idea how to make aspect ratio stick? Running EU 1.1 on W7x64.

Can you change the aspect ratio in game video options? I've tried a couple of minutes ago and couldn't, but this may be so because my monitor here is 5:4 (however, i remember changing it at home on 22" screen).
I don't remember distorted interface though... you mean the temperature gauge is distorted? That's the only 2d interface you get in this game, since ammo is shown as 3d models and they shouldn't be distorted at all.
