Hi all
Wing commander John Freeborn DFC with bar died last saturday. RIP.
Unfortunately involved in the "Battle of Barking creek".

Thanks for the post. That is such sad news. I had an opportunity to meet him last year but was unable to attend the event. I did see the excellent documentary on the BBC ONE Show a few months back - maybe they will repeat it now?

Yes, really a Ace:
Walter Wolfrum (23 May 1923, Schmölz, Germany – 26 August 2010) was a German World War II fighter ace who served in the Luftwaffe from February 1943 until the end of the war. He is credited with 137 confirmed kills.
After the war he became a successful Aerobatics pilot winning the German Championship in 1962 and taking second place in 1961, 1963, 1964 and 1966.
