I haven't touched the graphics options of my G250 and run the game as installed. Having read so much info on this site and M4 concerning the various improvements (and how they affect frame rate) I wonder if anyone with a G250 (512 Mb) could tell me what settings they use to get the best out of IL2. My framerates are very high so I guess I could make some adjustments. I have a 2.9GHz Dual Core MB with 4Gb of ram and currently run the game at the default resolution of 1024 x 768, video 'Excellent' using OpenGL.

you should be running in perfect settings. if not turn off the following in the NVIDIA 3D control panel area.

in the Program settings
make a setting for IL2

Antialiasing-Transparency= off
Extension limits=off
texture filtering anisotropic sample optimization =off now it may or may not let u have perfect.
on or off just check to see in the IL2 hardware video seting in advanced mode and see if perfect is available.

negative LOD bias clamp
quality Performance
Trilinear optimization On
thread optimization auto
tripple buffing on
Anisotropic filter optimization is default off
vertical sync on
make sure in the game settings you have perfect setting on

Many thanks! I implemented those settings on the Nvidia 3D control panel but the only way I can get 'perfect' is to change the Config file setting - HardwareShader=1 but in 'Perfect' the sea is virtually black (rather than blue) so I guess I must have a setting that is incorrect or that is how it is rendered in perfect mode. There are so many menus that deal with graphic optimisation that I am left a bit belwildered. You have the in game Video options, then there are the config.ini settigs, also a hardware set up screen that is accessed in the Ubisoft programme options on the Start Menu and finally there is the Nvidia set up interface. 'Confused' is an understatement...lol!

try turning off the adaptive; to which is power management mode= to performance.
and in the config .ini opengl. water to 3 or 4

Where is that option setting for power management mode? I can't see that one listed anywhere.....
