Does we need to worry about buying a Physix capable video card for SOW?
I´m willing to buy an ATI 5970 2Gb OC to running SOW, so...

S!

You can still use a nVidia card for PhysX even with ATI card..sure it requires some modified files but works. Oleg has not stated if SoW uses PhysX or not, yet.

You should add a note, that this is the result from hours or days of rendering with SoftImage, a 3D-modelling tool. This is not real-time or anywhere close to what is possible in real-life-rendering!

Whilst I haven't put any research into it, I don't think many games benefit from physX, and certainly none of mine. I doubt it would be any different for SoW.

Oleg was using his own physics model (in the last engine - the one in between Il-2 and the new SoW:BoB engine). It apparently could handle barrels bouncing off wires etc. However, I have no idea about the newest SoW engine.

It is useful to remember that Il-2 started out as a physics demo.
