A new title in the world-known Men of War real-time tactics game series - Men of War: Vietnam (http://www.1cpublishing.eu/game/men-of-war-vietnam/overview) - is now in the development.
The new, story-driven campaign shows the explosive mix of the jungle, Hueys and rock-n-roll in 1968.

During this conflict the US troops were using not only new weapons, but new tactics as well. The war in Vietnam became the first military conflict where helicopters played a significant role, and this is one of the major features of this game.
The campaign is 10 missions and focuses on a team of elite special ops soldiers, and each one of them has a personality. The unit includes Sergeant John Merrill, machinegunner Jim Walsh, sniper Sonny Armstrong, grenade launcher operator Carl Dillan and combat engineer Bill Kirby. In some missions they can count only on themselves, while in the others they act together with regular US and South-Vietnamese troops.
Missions in Men of War: Vietnam range from special operations (rescuing a shot-down pilot, escorting a reporter, etc.) to full scale battles.

Key features
• The new campaign tells the story of the US special ops team in the Vietnam War.
• Breathtaking missions including an ambush on the Ho Chi Minh trail, a game of cat and mouse in the Mekong Delta, raids into Cambodia and Laos, bridge defense during the Tet offensive and more.
• New weapons and units: M-16, T-54, M-113, Patton III, M-60, AK-47, M-14, RPG-2, M-72 LAW, RPK and many more.

Is this going to be multiplayer, singleplayer or both?

Wow, there gonna be T-54! This type of tank has stabilized gun controls to fire more accurately on the move. I can't wait for see this...as well as the missles tracking of a target (if there will be missles).

No doubt its going to lag some bit for people with all those trees. I'm going to recreate John Rambo when it comes out.

The thing that kind of puts me down is the voice acting. I'll get the English version of games since I have problems with games in reading cyrilic. In Red Tide and Men of War the battlecries and such are good since they are original, but the campaign was voiced over in English.

The first thing that came to my head when i saw "Men of War: Vietnam" were memories of playing Starcraft and using the burrow ability with Zerg...
I can just imagine "unburrowing" a horde of VC as the US come into range.. :p

All joking aside, it sounds great and i'm glad to hear it's focusing on SP so we can look forward to a decent couple of campaigns. :D

it could be cool ambushing and slaughter marines as VC as well ^^

Are the helicopters going to be player owned or called in like plane strikes? Or are they going to go into a mission like the one where you control a jeep in direct control?

How modable the game will be and YES, the helicopters are player controllable or they are like single player planes in Men of War ? There are some upcoming mods for Men of War with controllable helicopters and those are fan-made stuffs so I guess that in MoW: Vietnam the helicopters can be made player controllable.

It will be co-op mode for up to 4 players. So you'll be able to finish the campaign together with your friends.

It should have a map editor.

The site is in development and the final release date will be announced soon. The helicopters are not controllable, only act as air support.

Too bad. It could have been nice to have controlled hellis. Just one more question, have 1C Ino-Co tried to work on the helicopter control, as would it be possible to make hellis controled by player mutch easily as airplanes ?

I'll ask the devs about it, and Vietnam is developed by our internal team, not 1C Ino-Co.

Oh sorry, my mistake. But then I am not well informed. What is the difference between Ino-Co and internal team ?

These are different teams, internal team being a part of 1C itself.

As far as I understand, this game will feature a mp-coop mode (which is awesome) but no "regular" mp-modes (i.ex. 1v1), right?

Korsakov829
10-19-2010, 09:02 PM
Well its not going to be regular like Men of War otherwise no one would bother with it.

Can you combine forces from earlier MOW titles with the Vietnam ones? Like Have American forces from 68 vs Germans in a skirmish mode?? That'd be fun.

Korsakov829
11-06-2010, 02:11 AM
There is no skirmish mode.

You can take units from Vietnam and put them in a Men of War mod however, and make your own maps.

So now that Assault Squad is more or less out the door - Any indication on when we can expect Vietnam to release?

I hate to be "that guy" who revives an old thread with a question the devs/mods are sick of hearing - However i am planning to leave the country some time in May and will be abandonning my PC and gaming for a couple of years, hoping to get a chance to play this before i depart.

I am disappointed with assault squad but i have something to look forward to with Men of War: Vietnam. because is the same team that made Red Tide.

Red Tide was a excellent Singleplayer for the die hard men of war player. the only thing was missing was Multiplayer co-op.

so i can't wait for Men of War: Vietnam with Multiplayer co-op.

You come out of nowhere to say that single player is terrible and that there is no challenge. your definitely playing the wrong game with comment like that.

I been playing this Series from 2003 and you have the nerve to say "God knows where you people come from" as well as going off topic in this forum.

You are quickly showing how arrogant you are - Insulting other posters who ask simple questions and arguing with people over their own opinion of the game. Amazing.
Didn't your mother ever tell you that the world does not revolve around you?

Pull your head in mate, you won't get far in life if you continue acting the way you do on a simple gaming forum.

To be perfectly honest, one of the reasons i avoid MP is because i want to avoid people like you with your narrow minded views and holier-than-thou attitude.

Hi, didn't your mother ever tell you not to get butt-hurt by people on a forum? You're not going to get far in life being offended by everything. And don't tell us you're scared of multi player because you have to play with other people, if you're a loner that's fine but don't expect sympathy.

Ahh of course, I get it now. You're just a kid (or have the mind of one at least) that explains your attitude and all of your posts.

I won't bother trying to talk sense with you anymore, it's clear you are going to resort to pathetic attempts at insulting me whenever you reply. Easier than using your brain and coming up with a decent argument instead, I guess?..

Congrats - You are the first person to be added to my ignore list.

I am helping a guy do a Clones conversion, it is slow with only two of us and we have a ton to do, but If the Helicopters work as the should then he also has a gunship for the Clones that only needs the associated controls for, that could use the set up here.

Looking forward to the game and to mod it.

Strange, but I always thought that game forums were for asking questions about games and so forth, not randomly insulting people...must've got it wrong...

Anyway, sarcasm aside, is there an actual release date for MOW Vietnam in the UK?

Multiplayer will be COOP only? Man, I don't think I'm getting this then. I'm not a fan of the MoW Campaigns, I play it for the excellent online play and if it won't have any online play I have no reason to get it. Pity too, I was excited about this.

Also there's some half assed work being done by the researchers. The M24 barely saw use in Vietnam, only a small number of ARVN units still had them in 1965 and those that did saw little combat. US forces never used them and the ARVN quickly put them in storage when more M41 Walker Bulldogs arrived.

What vietnam needs are 2 things:

-Scavenge button: 35m radius your troops pick up to 15 bandages, 2 hand /AT grenades and ammo for all the weapon types theyre at that moment carrying if available. been waiting for that since soldiers:heroes of ww2

-renewed buying screen, ditch the MOW one and bring back the one from heroes of ww2 which actually shows your money, the costs of the units and what the unit youre about to buy has and can do. remove the goddamn timers from units, instead limit money and cps.

they bring those 2 out and mow vietnams gonna be a blast.
