Which, if any, version of the 1.7 patch should be used with the Direct2Drive distro? The base version is an Atari branded 1.6b7 (32746) which installs under "C:\Program Files\Atari" by default; and D2D provides a 1.6.5 patch (34688).
Installing the Atari 1.7 patch onto either of these runs to successful completion, but in neither case does the version information at the bottom of the main screen change from 1.6b7 or 1.6.5 respectively.
I'll ask over at D2D as well, but I thought I'd try here first.
(Note in passing: both 1.6b7 and 1.6.5 play the Atari splash video; only 1.6.5 has the Atari logo on the menu screen, to the left of the 1c and kataumi ones.)
