I played all SW games but never knew how much for example 400 clicks add to your line of sight.

1. So in terms of distance hom much squares on map 400 clicks add?

2. Dose it add to your basic line of sight or it is 400?

So I bought Qusasar (sensor 400 clicks) for MS (Astarte) but found it pretty redundant because I have only 3 slots with Tungsten (hull repair 20 HP/s), Kali (shild 3000, 10 SP/s) and Smog (active antimissile eff 40), even considering removing Smog for another Kali.

3. Whats yours system MS setting?

Puting sensor in MS is waste of system slot, I read someone puts them in fighter but I dont even do that. Didnt use one at all until I got MSF mission that required one at Muscovy.

AFAIK one map square equals to 100 clicks. You can also press 'V' while on the map screen to see the actual detection distance of your ships to get a better idea of how the radar works. The radar upgrade replaces the previous detection range, it doesn't add to it.

1. 400 clicks = 4 squares
2. it is 400
3. I like to see things so I always use radar even on Mastiff and Astarte +shield and rep. 4th slot is usually for anti missile or sometimes 2nd shield. I don't use radars on fighters cuz I keep them in hangar most of the time. Lunching them only when the enemy is focused on my mothership.

The only time I use sensors is when the mission demands it. Otherwise, my MS uses the Autorepair, Antimissile, Shield, and Antilaser setup. Combined with a Systems MK3 software it can tank through anything.

mother ship is too important to use an additional radar
plus it always need docking to trade station for change
so
when u got a team of 2, keep one in ms and one out as a scout;
when u got a team of 3, keep two in ms and one out as a scout;
the best fighter radar sees 350 klic, and is much cheaper

Radar is hugely useful, and I wish there was a MS with 5 system slots because the only thing more necessary than radar is all of the tanking modules (anti-missile, shield, armor repair and emerald).

I always kept the 350 one on a fighter and popped it out whenever I needed to see a good distance. It's very helpful on escorts and such, because you really need to get the jump on the enemy before they start attacking your weak ships. It's also very helpful if you use missiles a lot, because it's pointless to use the long range missiles if the enemy sees you first.

I agree that radar is VIE, but not for the sake of LRM or surprising the enemy, only for not to engage them.:-P

Yup, I have found radar most useful now on hard :) But I put it to my MS sacrficing the antimissile for now. With Kali, Tungsten and system FW Mk.3 it is not necessary for now. But more system slots would be good. I am sure in SW1 I got four on the Star Wolf...
