where do you find heavy weapons?

two ships with slots but haven't found where to purchase the weapons!

any station kinda, and alot of pirates etc drop heavy machine guns

You probably won't find any to buy at a station until you get the Astarte mothership. At that point you are told to dock for refit and there are plenty there ( in fact probably also in the system before that quest kicks in too )

I was lucky enough to be stopped by traders at portals early on in the game and managed to buy one then.

I only saw them in smugglers station (stations with a skull icon) so far, haven't bought the FTU warehouse perk yet so i don't know about it.

there are alot of heavy caliber guns (mind you that the only realy work vs buildings or big ships, and as first shot vs fighter groups)

there in cashes thats where i got my first one
