As a longtime IL2 simlover I of course look forward to STORM OF WAR!
I understand that there is a consoleversion of IL2 called Birds of prey! But what the the hell is WINGS OF PREY??? How does it relate to IL2 or BIRDS OF PREY? Has it anything to do with OLEG MADDOX? Is it based on IL2? Is it independant? is it a PCversion of BIRDS OF PREY? will it be arcade or a real sim? If anyone KNOWS please let me know!
Cheers
P.S. To Mr. Oleg Maddox! I am waiting now FOR YEARS for SOW! How many years do I have to wait for it? I mean, I might die in 20 or 30 years! ;-)

Birds of prey was a console version of IL-2, wings of prey will be a computer version of birds of prey with some improvements.Oleg maddox isn't directly involved in birds of prey(I may be wrong) but allowed another developer to borrow the name.If you prefer graphics over realism wings of prey may be just the ticket, if not stick to waiting for SOW.

You are right, Oleg is not involved in them. They are both arcade games.

Birds of prey its an arcade simulator made for consoles using a modified IL-2 engine. Maddox Games didn´t have any envolvement with it, except i assume for technical support of the engine. But, remember, its a arcade game, that happen to have three level of dificulty in flying. You could think of it like "more arcade", "medium arcade", "less arcade" (called simulation mode in the game), but none of them is near the simulation level of IL-2.
Now they are making a pc version of the game, also with several "arcade levels", graphic improvements, and so on. I guess most people here since are only interested on simulator as real as possible, wouldn´t be interested on it, but i think its good news since most people started flying arcade simulators before getting involved on more "serious" aircraft sims , so it helps to bring new people.
Also, Maddox Games is not involved on this game development, again, maybe giving technical support of the engine, but that would be all.
Considering it has a December release date, there isn't to much info on the game its self....and is only sold on line from what I have seen, at a site called yuplay.....
Personally I would like to see some sort of a Demo, so I can see first hand how the game will play......
Any one thinking of getting it? Have any one found any reviews?

Here's the biggest problem with BOP and Wings of Prey - rigid gameplay.
You are stuck with what the developer thinks is fun for online play scenarios.
In fact, if you want to require players to take off and land in online games in WOP, you have to play to "capture the base" mode. Otherwise, the game modes are airstart only.
Compare this to IL2 1946 where just about any setting/requirement can be adjusted and any scenario can be designed for online play. Basically with 1946 - the sim pilot decides what type of game experience he/she wants online because you can tweak it to your definition of fun.
With WOP, you get the game modes that come with the game and that's it. You also have no options for custom skins. Really, WOP will be a console game for the PC. Just like MW2 is a dumbed down console game for PC.
If you don't like the console game business model forced into your PC gaming experience, I would suggest avoiding games like MW2 and WOP.
