I rented it, and after weeks of playing BOP, HOE is terrible. Only third person camera angles, weird flight controls, and ps2 quality graphics. When shooting down German bombers, the same animation happens again and again. The wing falls off after becoming engulfed in flames. Just a bad game and it really shows the quality of BOp.

Thanks for the review! I was originally excited about this game, but after all the less than positive reviews I'll be staying away...

Irony is, Ubi Soft used to be the US and European distributor for the Il-2 series.

Ubisoft has fallen a long way in the last few years. GR, Rainbow, Splinter Cell...HOE is nothing compared to how they've failed fans already. They've got a few games I like, but it's just not the same.

Unfortunatly, it happens. Remember Sierra?
Heck, remember what Lucas Arts used to be like?

LA remembers, they keep re-releasing games. Not the right games, but they're trying their best to go back in time. LOL

ok HOE is screwd because if its prequal is better then thats bad but considering it was played on a worse system than HOE that takes the cake
I think Heroes over the Pacific only seemed so good because of a lack of competition (on consoles), it got a bit silly when you had a mission where you were flying something like an Avenger, you'd trot off and sink the Akagi (heck maybe a whole carrier fleet) and then return and shoot down 50 kamikazes attacking your carrier before you landed...
On that note - it does bug me a bit that BOP has magic reloading bombs and rockets on campaign missions when so much effort has been made in other areas to make the game so realistic. I'd prefer to land and reload but thats just me...

Yeah but it's on consoles so they have to cater to console players... And I don't think they'll enjoy flying for about 15 minutes (or more) to reach the target and then dropping a few bombs and returning to base. :)
Personally, if I wanted it that realistic I'd just play 1946. ;)

I think the best thing I can say about HOE is that by trading it in it will allow me to pick up Borderlands essentially free with what I put on it at preorder. Sad really, because I loved HOP too.
